And so we come to the end of another tumultuous year. The pace of change seems to be quickening and the IBF is responding to these changes by setting an example "uniting and inspiring people through conscious breathing". We have brought the Global Inspiration Conference to Kenya "Breathing Peace into the Heart of Africa' and we look forward to "Celebrating Diversity in Breathwork" in the Netherlands next year. This will be the thirtieth GIC - quite an achievement! Don't forget to take advantage of the early bird offers to participate in GIC 2024. The link is here.

In this newsletter we present two articles which reflect and consider responses to changes in the world of breathwork. Tilke Platteel-Deur talks about the need for commitment and time in our breathwork journey. Ashanna Solaris & Dana Dharma Devi talk about the need for clear ethical guidelines to ensure the well-being of all who are embarking on a breathwork journey.

Why deep growth needs commitment and time

Many people ask themselves why the world has become so different from the world they knew. They don't understand the world out there anymore. They so often feel confused and not content just trying to survive. They live their male energy, running, thinking, acting, and forcing themselves forward. They neglect their female energy and forget to slow down and live and enjoy the moment in the here and now as fully as possible. They forget that we all carry male and female energy inside of us, energies that both need to be felt and acted upon, in order to be balanced human beings.

Life seems to be moving faster

We are living in an extremely fast time. Communication is faster than ever before; today we are immediately informed about what is happening on the other side of the globe. Relationships and business connections break up more easily than ever.

We can travel great distances in a few hours, thinking that our bodies can take that lightly. Children grow up faster; at least, they think they do. We keep looking for quick fixes, immediate successes. We do not repair the things we own; we throw away whatever we think is outdated and buy the newer model.

In a time like this, we often long for commitment, and a binding force.
