Dear ,
Faced with the recently escalated violence in the Middle East and many ongoing conflicts around the world, our IBF World Breathing Day theme (“Breathe Peace”) and the theme of this year’s Global Inspiration Conference in Kenya (“Breathing peace into the heart of Africa") continue to be deeply relevant and urgent.
At such moments in time, our hearts, minds and nervous systems may not be able to stretch and embrace how pain and terror can exist at the same time as love and connection. Yet both are real, and it remains as important to nourish and resource ourselves by celebrating our human successes as it is to confront our failures.
In that
spirit, we would like to give you an update on the extremely successful, uniting and joyful GIC in Kenya. We were joined by breathworkers and breath enthusiasts from 18 countries representing Africa, North America, Asia, Australia and Europe.
The Host Team did an incredible job of allowing us to experience the beauty of Africa. They invited us into their tribe to the sound of ecstatic drum beats and
wrapped in the rich colours of shukas, the traditional Maasai garment. Thank you.
In addition to amazing speakers and workshops, we were able to gather in our IBF Annual General Meeting. During these meetings, we voted on the creation of two new workgroups: 1) Diversity and Inclusivity and 2) Professionalism. We also changed the name of our Internal Communications workgroup to Communications. We voted
on the 2026 GIC country as well: Greece!
We also had the elections of our officers and welcomed Chris Blomme (Belgium), Nilgül Tavsel (Turkey), and Vincent Oloo (Kenya) to the Executive Team. You can see all of our Task Force Members at ibfbreathwork.org/ibf-team.
We hope to see you next year in The Netherlands, July 27-August 3, 2024. Register at ibfbreathwork.org/gic. The theme is Celebrating Diversity in Breathwork. Let us come together to strengthen our communities and embrace our diversity rather than be separated by it.
Blessings,
The IBF Executive Team
